Hope Has a Story

Our Story

Table of Grace Foundation was born from a journey our family never expected to walk and one we continue to walk today.

In April 2023, Staci was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Overnight, life became a series of unknowns. There were extended hospital stays in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Durham, North Carolina; months of treatment in Houston, Texas; treatment cycles in New York City; and now ongoing care in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Every step has brought new challenges, new questions, and new opportunities to trust God.

Yet almost immediately, something extraordinary happened. Without being asked, people stepped in.

Friends and family met practical needs. Churches prayed faithfully. Meals appeared on our doorstep. Our children were cared for. Travel was made possible. Encouraging messages arrived on difficult days. Financial burdens were quietly eased. At every stage of this journey, and in ways too numerous to count, we have experienced the love of Christ through people who simply refused to let us walk this road alone.

That compassion did not end after the first diagnosis or the first round of treatment. As our journey has continued, so has the faithfulness of God expressed through His people. Time and again, we have been reminded that hope often arrives through ordinary people willing to love in extraordinary ways.

Their compassion has shown us what it truly means to belong to the body of Christ. Because others have carried burdens we could not carry ourselves, we have been able to cling to the hope found in Christ, even through the hardest seasons of our journey.

Those experiences planted the seeds of what would become Table of Grace Foundation. Having experienced the love of Christ through the compassion of His people, we felt called to create a place where others facing serious medical hardships could experience that same practical care, encouraging community, and enduring hope.

Why "Table of Grace"?

Some of the most meaningful moments in life happen around a table.

Throughout Scripture, tables are places of welcome, provision, fellowship, and grace. They are where meals are shared, prayers are offered, burdens are carried together, and relationships are strengthened. Around a table, there is space to celebrate life's joys, to weep through its sorrows, and to remind one another that no one was created to walk alone.

During one season of Staci's treatment, our family moved into a home with a larger dining area. One of the first things Staci said was, "We need a bigger table." At the time, it seemed like a simple decision. In reality, it became one of the clearest pictures of what God was doing in our lives.

That table quickly became more than a place to share meals. Friends gathered to pray. Scripture was opened. Conversations stretched late into the evening. Laughter filled the room, and tears were never unwelcome. Around that table, we were reminded again and again that God's grace is often experienced through the faithful presence of His people.

Looking back, we realized that table represented something much greater than our home. It represented the community that had surrounded us with compassion, practical care, and hope throughout our journey.

That is why we are called Table of Grace Foundation.

The table reminds us that grace always makes room for others. Just as so many people welcomed us, cared for us, prayed for us, and carried burdens we could not carry ourselves, we now desire to extend that same Christ-centered compassion and practical care to others facing serious medical hardships.

Today, Table of Grace Foundation exists to keep setting the table and creating places where compassion is lived out, burdens are shared, hope is strengthened, and the love of Christ is made tangible through His people.
